Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate understanding of hazardous areas, principles of area classification and specialized equipment used in hazardous areas;
State the relevant legislation, standards and certification schemes (ATEX, IECEx) governing Ex equipment;
Explain the different protection types for both electrical and mechanical equipment;
Develop skills for selecting appropriate Ex equipment and interpreting equipment markings;
Carry out inspection and maintenance Ex equipment;
Develop knowledge for documentation of Hazardous Area Equipment Register (HAER).
