This course provides comprehensive knowledge of the essential principles and best practices for the installation and maintenance of explosion-protected (Ex) electrical equipment in hazardous environments. It covers topics such as installation methods, maintenance procedures, and the regulatory framework that governs Ex equipment. The course is designed in accordance with the IEC 60079 standards, ensuring alignment with globally recognized safety and compliance requirements for explosive atmospheres. WSQ Training for High-Risk Working Environments aligned with MOM requirements for Major Hazard Installations (MHI).

Theoretical Course Content: 

  1. Electrical Safety
  2. Electrical Protection Principles and Methods
  3. Ex Equipment Types and Selection
  4. Electrical Installation and Maintenance in Hazardous Area

    Practical Performance:

    1. Ex Nameplate Interpretation
    2. Preparation and Installation of cable glands and termination

    Assessment: 

    1. Written Assessment (P1 / P2 )
    2. Practical Performance
    1. Apply safety practices in the planning and execution of electrical work;
    2. Use appropriate protection methods for electrical equipment and systems;
    3. Explain Ex equipment nameplates;
    4. Execute electrical installations in hazardous areas in compliance with safety requirements;
    5. Install appropriate Ex equipment based on the area classification and maintain the equipment to ensure safety and compliance;
    6. Demonstrate understanding of hazardous areas, principles of area classification and specialized equipment used in hazardous areas;
    7. State the relevant legislation, standards and certification schemes (ATEX, IECEx) governing Ex equipment.

    Certification
    Upon completion and passing of all required assessments, participants will receive 2 formal recognition through the award of a Statement of Attainment (SOA) issued by SSG: Electrical Engineering Management & Certificate of Training issued by ATTS: Apply Electrical Installation and Maintenance Principles.

    It is recommended that the course be retaken every five years to ensure that participants are up-to-date with the latest standards and best practices in the field.

    This course is suitable for a wide range of technical personnel but will greatly benefit to Facility Engineers, Technicians, Electricians and Managers of Energy & Petro-Chemical industries

    1. Basic english proficiency – able to read and write in English
    2. Electrical Qualification / or
    3. Employment certification /or CV- relevant work experience in Electrical

    All applications are to be submitted (with full documentation) via email (enquiry@atts-asia.com) at least 7 working days prior to course commencing date. Successful applicants will receive the course confirmation and payment advisory email. Registration is only confirmed upon full payment of course fees.

    For Application – Document Submission

    The applicant will need to complete an enrolment form before the course to assess their entry requirement. If the applicant does not meet the entry requirement, they will be asked to submit their work experience/resume to determine their suitability. An interview may be done to assess their suitability too.

    Criteria for WSQ Funding* to be eligible, participants:

    1. Must be Singaporeans or Permanent Residents of Singapore
    2. May be employer-sponsored, self-sponsored or unemployed
    3. Achieve 100% attendance
    4. Pass all required assessments
    5. Eligibility acceptance subject to final approval by WSQ before course commencement

    *Participants who do not fulfill the above criteria are not eligible for WSQ funding & certification, and are required to pay the course fee in full.

    Important Reminders:

    • Delegates are required to bring their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including Coveralls, Safety goggles, Hand gloves & Safety shoes.
    • Kindly note that participation in the practical activity is subject to having the appropriate PPE. The training centre reserves the right to restrict participation if proper PPE is not worn.
    • Delegates are required to bring a valid photographic identification for verification purposes. (e.g. Passport, Driving license, or any other official photo identification.)
    • Failure to present a valid ID may result in denied entry to the course or assessment.
