High Voltage Course at Operation Level (MPA, Singapore Approved)

- Delegates should have basic knowledge of electrical theory and practice.
- Prior Electrical or Electro-technical experience in a Shipboard environment.
- Have completed 3-6 months of sea time.
Application procedures

- Train mariners to be capable of managing high voltage operations on board ship, understanding the high voltage distribution system & the importance of maintaining distribution capability, and identifying faults within a high voltage system and reconfigure the system to maintain supply.
- The course contents of this course meet the STCW (Manila Amendment-2010) and it is also certified by MPA (Maritime and Port of Authority of Singapore).
Certification
Eligible candidates with seafarer discharge book will be issued with High Voltage Training (Operation Level). Approved by MPA, Singapore
Candidates without seafarer discharge book will be issued with High Voltage Training (Operation Level). Compatible to the standards of STCW Code 1976, as amended. (Issued by Assets Training & Technical Services Pte Ltd)
This course is suitable for serving MEO class 5, EOOW or Marine Electrician who will be working or planning to work on the HV system in a ship. This course will meet the requirement as per the III/1 (Operation Level) ref MPA Shipping circular to ship owner, No 10 of 2014 requirement.
- Understanding of the functional, operational and safety requirements for Marine High Voltage System.
- Assistance to suitable qualified personnel in carrying out maintenance and repair of HV Switchgear.
- Understand the concept of PTW & SFT and candidates are expected to show this understanding during practicals.
- Selection of suitable equipment for isolation and testing Marine HV equipment.
- Isolation and earthing procedure on a Marine HV System, complete with Safety documentation.
- Performance of insulation resistance and polarisation index test on Marine HV equipment.
- Performance of Hi-pot test on Marine HV equipment.
- Performance of thermal imaging.
- Theory and practical assessment.
